This past summer, from June 20th – 30th, 2017, Rabbi Hillel took 32 members of his congregation on the synagogue’s very first congregational trip to Israel! Although Rabbi Hillel has been to Israel many times before, both on organized trips and together with his family, this was a first-time opportunity for him as he, his wife and three children led others who had never before had the chance to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of the Land of Israel. Below you’ll find the itinerary from the trip as well as a few pictures of the group and one of Rabbi Hillel’s family. You can also read what some participants on the SOJC trip to Israel had to say.
The itinerary is below.
“This past summer we had the privilege of taking our first family trip to Israel with Southwest Orlando Jewish Congregation. To say it was the trip of a lifetime would be an understatement. We are so thankful to Rabbi Skolnik for organizing and leading this trip for participants of our synagogue. His knowledge and expertise of the land, history, people, language, and let’s not forget the food, added so much meaning to our experience, we couldn’t imagine taking a first trip to Israel any other way. Rabbi Hillel was able to create a full itinerary that allowed us to experience so much more of the country than we would have ever achieved on our own, while not feeling at all rushed during our stay. After 10 days under his guidance, we left the country with our bodies full of falafel and shwarma, and our souls full of such a spiritual connection and pride to this land, that on the plane ride home we were all thinking and planning when we would be able to make our next trip back.”
